TEAM GRYPHON FC HISTORY - 2006
TGFC was established in the summer of 2006 for the customers and staff of the Gryphon Leisure Centre and the pupils and its staff of the Gryphon School, in Sherborne, Dorset. Building on the foundations already laid by its 5-a-side league, the club joined forces with the school to create a 'partnership club' working together to form TGFC!
TGFC was elected into the Blackmore Vale Football League in June 2006’s AGM and become a DIVISION ONE club at the same meeting; the club is also affiliated to the Dorset County Football Association. The club formed a coaching partnership with Pass and Move Football Academy, which saw the company take on the roll of coaching the team to success! The club also signed its first shirt sponsorship deal with A Touch of Glass, a Yeovil based trophy shop, this agreement covers shirt sponsorship of the home and away kit, plus all training wear, which will be supplied by RAM Sports from Wincanton.
TEAM GRYPHON FC HISTORY - 2007
TGFC were awarded the FA Charter Standard for Adult Clubs, by Dorset County Football Association and The Football Association in February 2007. And with the club moving on to its second season, after its inaugural season which saw the club finish a respectable 8th place in the BVFL Division One, but were knocked out of all the cup in the early stages of the competitions. The club held its first every awards night in association with the Gryphon Leisure Centre and sponsors A Touch of Glass. As the club entered its second season, the club, said goodbye to Aarron Trim, Chris Cooper, Tom Cooper, brothers Richard & James Stubbert, released Dan Kelly to Milborne Port, Lee Culter to Henstridge, Mark Ryan to his Bournemouth League side full time, Mark Jerzykowiski to injury and Steve Rose who left to go to University. TGFC signed Darren Rowe from Sherborne Town, and Trevor Perry from Brittannia Inn and we added goalkeeper John Haynes to the squad. The club also signed a secondary sponsorship deal with The Mermaid of Sherborne for after match food and entertainment purposes in the September.
TEAM GRYPHON FC HISTORY - 2008
With the Football Club, now in its second season, progression is the aim for 2008 and beyond? And the club has already set the paving slabs for success, with the next stage in TGFC’s evolution an U18’s team, and Compton Rovers an U16’s team playing in the Yeovil & District League have come onboard, to be re-branded as TGFC U18’s hopefully playing in the Dorset County Youth League come September, and in June they were elected into Division Two for the 2008-09 season. The club said good-bye as a player to goalkeeper Paul Macinnes who has had to stop playing because of injury, and welcomed Olly Beaton, Ethan Daish, Carl Noyce, Jamie Haynes and Jonathan Taylor to the club. The club also signed a new sponsorship deal with Sevenoaks, Sound & Vision of Yeovil a home entertainment shop, who became the U18's home shirt sponsors for next season. May saw TGFC finish 9th but stayed a Division One club though re-structuring of the BVFL. The clubs second annual awards night was also held at the Mermaid.
In the pre-season of 2008-09 TGFC have released, Dan, Oliver & Tony Beaton, James Trebble, Lewis Bacon, and with Andy Bastable moving to Frendown, and Trever Perry to Bishops Caundle. But have signed Mike Motterham, Brad Perrett, Darren & Dominic Mason, Steve Randall, Ross Lambert and Tom Cooper and Kris Lewin have returned to the club. Plus 15 U18's to play for the club in the Dorset County Youth League, Division Two...Good Times!
